This February, the AKC Museum of the Dog will be hosting a Members Only pop-up exhibition showcasing the artistic talent within our community. Anyone currently enrolled in a membership program is encouraged to submit their canine-centric art for consideration—this includes all membership levels and types. 

To submit your work to be considered for Dog Days of Winter pop-up exhibition, please fill out the form here. You must be a Member to submit an application. Applications are due by January 3rd, 2020.

If you’re a non-member and wish to submit your work, never fear! Memberships start at $60 and you can join at any time during the entry period—which runs from October 31st to January 3rd—in order to submit your work. JOIN NOW >>

This exhibition will be juried. Individual Members are allowed one submission. Family/Dual and all higher levels of Membership are allowed up to four submissions. Member Libraries will be able to submit four pieces of art of their choosing created by their patrons.

Twenty submissions will be chosen and featured in the third-floor gallery as well as in our AKC MoD app; all other submissions will be displayed on our digital Community Wall. Throughout the exhibition, which will run from January 24 to February 14, 2020, Museum patrons will be able to vote for their favorite pieces using the “Best in Show” function on the app.

The Museum will host a reception honoring the participating artists on Saturday, February 8, 2020 that will be open to all Members & their guests. There, we will present the award for “Best in Show”—that is, the piece that receives the most votes throughout the exhibition! Join us in this celebration of Membership and the community we have created here at the AKC Museum of the Dog.

Guidelines for Juried Artwork Submission
  • Anyone currently enrolled in a membership program will be encouraged to submit their work - this will include ALL membership levels and types.
    • Individual Members are allowed one submission.
    • Family/Dual Members and all higher levels of Membership are allowed up to 4 submissions.
    • Member Libraries who wish to participate will field submissions for their patrons and submit the top 4.
  • Any non-members who wish to submit must become a member in order to submit their art.
  • 20 submissions will be chosen and featured on our third floor gallery.
  • All other submissions that are not selected will be featured on our Community Wall.
  • All mediums welcome with a size limitation of 25" x 30".
  • All artists will be responsible for getting their own pieces to the Museum no later than January 17, 2020.
  • Museum will not be responsible for framing any artworks that will be displayed, nor is the Museum responsible for any damage that may occur to a piece.

Accessibility

Service animals are welcome in the museum. The museum entrance is wheelchair accessible via the building’s main plaza on the corner of Park Ave and E 40th Street. Accessible elevators are located on the first floor of the museum to the left of the admissions desk and gift shop. Public restrooms include accessible facilities.
